More than an association.A community fund for Madeira.

Every membership and donation contributes to a transparent fund that supports our community today and invests in Madeira's future. Amparo is a non-profit association based in Machico, founded to integrate remote workers, entrepreneurs, artists and newcomers with the people who already call this island home.

Where Your Money Goes

Everything the fund receives goes back into the community. Here's the order of priority.

  1. 1

    Community activities & events

Weekly meets, workshops, cleanups and cultural events open to locals and newcomers.

  2. 2

    Operational costs & community coordinators

The salaries, insurance and admin that keep Amparo running properly and accountably.

  3. 3

    Volunteer programmes & community support

Shelter dog walking, help with residency and NIF, support for local associations.

  4. 4

A future community hub & coworking space

A central home in Machico where locals and remote workers can work and meet.

  5. 5

    Grants for local impact projects

Once the fund is strong enough, direct grants to impactful projects on the island.

“This community makes Machico feel like home. Amparo brings people together and creates real change.”
